I think we got to come back down to the real earth that we had years ago and show respect for people.

[Interviewer]

How has Covid-19 impacted your daily life?

[Melinda]

Oh, I'm coping with it very well thank you kindly!

*laughs*

[Interviewer]

What did you under-appreciate before Covid that you appreciate more now?

[Melinda]

Uh, I’d say to see that people are really taking care of themselves by wearing their mask when they have to. I respect that, I don't wear them very often myself but I think everybody's kinda taken care of each other pretty good. I respect that.

[Interviewer]

How will the pandemic change society once it’s over?

[Melinda]

Well I hope and pray that everybody still has a lot of caring feeling for one another. I think we got to come back down to the real earth that we had years ago and show respect for people. That's what I think this is all about, to be honest, truth be known. That’s my idea anyhow.

[Interviewer]

How did isolation affect you and how has this impacted your relationship with family and friends?

[Melinda]

Well, it doesn't affect me very much cause I live all by myself, I’ve been widowed for seventeen years and I only have one child in Canada,  my daughter lives in Australia and he's a busy man so I don't see much of the family so I continue on to be as strong as I can in my life. That’s all I can say.

[Interviewer]

What pre-Covid memory keeps you hopeful and what possible future keeps you going?

[Melinda]

Well I think more than anything I was the oldest of three children and the children were quite far apart and my mother was a type of person that made me kind of be a leader in the family and that's my memory that you had to do things that the kids today would be terrified to try and do. Like we didn't have power and running water and all that, so we had to make life interesting for ourselves and that's what I see in our journey, you gotta keep a truckin’. So to me people are living in paradise right now and they don’t believe it, they don’t understand that, but it is true.
